Job Description

At Blue Origin, we envision millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth. We're working to develop reusable, safe, and low-cost space vehicles and systems within a culture of safety, collaboration, and inclusion. Join our diverse team of problem solvers as we add new chapters to the history of spaceflight!

We are a diverse team of collaborators, doers, and problem-solvers who are relentlessly committed to a culture of safety. This position will directly impact the history of space exploration and will require your commitment and detailed attention towards safe and repeatable space flight. Join us in lowering the cost of access to space and enabling Blue Origin's vision of millions of people living and working in space to benefit Earth.

As part of a diverse and hardworking team of engineers, you will be responsible for building a team of valve designers for the Blue Origin Lunar Lander Environmental Control and Life Support (ECLS) flight hardware. The ECLS System is composed of the essential hardware to allow humans to safely inhabit space. ECLSS circulates air around the vehicle picking up carbon dioxide, humidity and trace contaminants to be scrubbed and provides oxygen for breathing. The internal cabin pressure is maintained and monitored. Clean drinking water is provided to the crew. The ECLS system also monitors for emergencies such as rapid depressurization and fire and counteracts them.

You will use your technical know-how and design experience to develop hardware that is optimized to the important task of keeping humans alive on the moon. You will report to the integrated product lead for Environmental Controls and Life Support and be imbedded on a team with responsible engineers, analysts, technicians, manufacturing engineers and others all working towards the same goal. Your leadership skills will grow and help develop a team of junior engineers, and work with other divisions of Blue Origin to build and test valves.

You will work directly with NASA and our Blue Origin business units as part of the Human Landing System (HLS) Sustaining Lunar Development (SLD) program. You will play a key role in developing the MK2 lunar transportation system that will return humans to the Moon and extend human presence permanently beyond the bounds of Earth.
