Responsibilities

Job Summary
The System Engineer II position is responsible for supporting server-based applications, operating systems and services which includes configuration, maintenance, upgrades, scripting, monitoring, and troubleshooting. The Systems Engineer II will make recommendations and coordinate the implementation of performance enhancements, upgrades, and replacements for corporate technology. Provides escalation assistance to System Engineer I when/where needed.

In addition, the System Engineer II will monitor, analyze, diagnose, trend and resolve problems or issues on multi-platform systems. This position coordinates the implementation of performance enhancements, upgrades, and replacements for corporate technology. The Systems Engineer II will work with the user and client community on system integration and provide training to ensure smooth workflows with the organizations network of physicians and providers.
  • Provides administration, technical support, and maintenance for specialized systems, servers and applications including but not limited to Microsoft Server 2012/2016/2019, Microsoft Exchange, and Microsoft terminology, and/or Linux. Maintains a multi-site, multi-forest, AD domain and associated domain services including but not limited to DNS, AD Group/User Policies, and DFS.
    Maintains security and integrity of server and/or applications to support security posture and organizational SLA's.
    Reviews and administers user/systems rights schemas, quotas, and restrictions; seeks to expand and maximize the use of existing systems and applications.
    Reviews and assists in the maintenance of IT policies and procedures for management submission and documentation purposes.
    Escalation path for level I related technical and support related issues/challenges.
  • Work on special projects as assigned to improve/enhance operating efficiency at ICP and/or customer experience Follows, ensures, and enforces technical standards/procedures to ensure the consistency and maintainability of new systems/services/applications.
    Works closely within the user community to analyze research and make recommendations for technical solutions to business problems.
    Participate on project teams and committees. Represent the IT function at review meetings as requested.
    Creates and reviews plans for, and coordinates the implementation, installation, modification, testing, training and integration of systems and applications.
    Produces a detailed timeline for each system/service/application installation and implement effective project control by monitoring the progress of those installations and configurations, ensuring actions meet agreed upon SLA's and timelines, while reporting the status to management.
  • Produces specialized reports/data/auditing. Analyzes data and reports for anomalies or indicators.
    Reviews productivity reports and problem records to evaluate performance of computer system in identifying opportunities for improvement and pro-active resolution of deficiencies.
    Maintains and updates disaster recovery procedures documentation to ensure retrieval on all data and system software.
    Reviews and assists in the maintenance of IT policies and procedures for management submission and documentation purposes.
    Responsible for creating and maintaining knowledge base articles and existing IT related documentation.
    Assist in research and recommendation of new systems, software, and/or applications.
    Reviews vendor reports or visits vendors to observe demonstration of systems software, operating systems, and applications.
    Participates in programs regarding technical support issues, product offerings, software evaluations, etc.
    Analyzes changes in software and operating systems issued by manufacturer, author, or vendor and determine impact on existing production systems, systems design, programming standards, and operating procedures.
    Assists senior engineers with researching, engineering, and implementing solutions to meet company needs and growth.
    Peer reviews of all designs, codes, and unit test plans where applicable.
  • Provide and receive cross-training with peers.
    Aid other IT staff that are less technical to elevate the capabilities of the entire IT function.
    Maintain current knowledge in new and existing software to ensure productivity, capability, and return on investment.
  • Available for occasional off-hours emergencies. On-call
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Education
Associate's Degree or 2 years experience in Computer Science or related field or systems administration Required

Experience
6 years System administration or supporting operating system configurations (Linux, MS Server 2012/2016/2019, AD, DFS, Storage Solutions) Required

Licenses and Certifications
