SummaryResponsible for providing safe and efficient transportation of senior citizens to and from the senior centers.
Salary: Depending on qualifications and experience
Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesTransport senior citizens safely to various destinations including senior centers, medical appointments, home, shopping, etc.
Assist riders in getting on and off the vehicle.
Provide assistance as necessary in the event of an emergency during a senior trip.
Follow City and Department policies and procedures on maintaining a safe and clean vehicle.
Assist with custodial duties and event set-up and break-down as needed.
High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED)
2 years related experience
Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class C, with Passenger Endorsement
Or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
Preferred QualificationsEducation/ Experience:
High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED)
2-4 years experience in passenger transportation, custodial services or similar
Basic knowledge of mechanical systems for a multi-passenger vehicle Comprehensive knowledge of driving safety practices and traffic laws and regulations
Skill to read and understand maps and Global Positioning Systems (GPS)
Ability to read and understand written instructions
Ability to operate a multi-passenger vehicle in a safe and economical manner
Ability to recognize and reduce safety hazards during vehicle inspections and while driving
Valid Class C Texas Driver's License
CPR Certification required within 6 months of hire
City of Garland Defensive Driving Certification within 6 months of hire
