Responsibilities

This position will support the US Air Force Test Pilot School, specifically supporting development and delivery of a Test and Evaluation training course for US Space Force personnel including operators and engineers. This in-residence course is currently offered two times each year with dedicated facilities at Edwards AFB.


Instructors should have operational and/or Test and Evaluation experience with space systems. The Space Technical Expert will work on-site at Edwards AFB, directly supporting the course director and providing leadership to the Astronautical Sciences division of USAF Test Pilot School. This includes guiding the team in coordinating, developing, and delivering classroom instruction and hands on exercises to meet course learning objectives.


A successful candidate must have in depth knowledge of Astronautics and space operations. Specialized knowledge and experience in the operation and/or development of Space Systems and experience in DoD acquisition/Test and Evaluation are highly desired.


Space Test & Evaluation Technical Expert will be responsible for:
* Provide subject matter expertise and analysis to develop and deliver classroom instruction and guide practical exercises in support of Space Test curriculum
* Lead the Astronautical Sciences Branch of USAF TPS
* Provide expert advice to the course director to guide curriculum development, course policies and assist in establishing new capabilities
* Coordinate instructor and guest lecture support as needed.
* Coordinate with USAF Test Pilot School course director to ensure course logistical and administrative support requirements are planned and executed for each class
* Perform other duties as assigned


Qualifications

Required Experience:
Minimum of 8 years of experience with any combination of space operations/acquisition, test and evaluation, and/or systems testing. At least 3 years of experience must be directly related to space operations.
* Demonstrated experience in operation or acquisition of space systems.
* Thorough knowledge of Test and Evaluation procedures on a major acquisition program.

Desired Experience:
* Test Pilot School graduate (USAF, USN, Empire, or EPNER) highly desired.
* Experience delivering instruction to adult learners in an academic environment.
* Experience with software tools such as MatLab / Simulink or Systems Tool Kit (STK).
* Proficiency with Microsoft Office and web-based collaborative resources such as SharePoint and Microsoft Teams.

Education Requirements:
Master's degree in an engineering or related technical field. * PhD in an engineering or related technical field preferred.

Travel Requirements:
Occasional travel may be required.

Clearance Requirements:
Active TS/SCI with the ability to qualify for appropriate program access required. An active Secret clearance may be considered to start.

U.S. Citizenship is required

The pay range for this position in California is $XXX,000/year to $XXX,000/year; however, base pay offered may vary depending on established government contract ranges, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience, and other factors. MTSI also offers a full range of medical, financial, and other benefits, dependent on the position offered. Base pay information is based on market location.
