Primary Responsibilities
Based in our Phoenix, Arizona office, the successful Project Accountant will be a hands-on team player who will assist
multiple project managers and staff on a daily basis.
Project Accountants are responsible for the life cycle of project accounting. The main focus of a project accountant is to
assist the Project Manager with the non-technical management of a project, emphasizing project financial health.
Specific responsibilities include:
- Monitoring weekly and monthly project expenditure
- Monitoring and analysis of project status/completion
- Creating and tracking invoices
- Collections management
- Project budgeting
- Assists and administering of contracts, subcontracts and change documentation as necessary
- Quality Control of contract proposals and fees
- Monitoring earned value reports, and cost to complete reports
- Maintaining contract compliance
- Performance of various specialized accounting functions of moderate complexity, such as research and working with both
internal and external auditors, work within client required software to upload/track invoicing and ensure that procedures
and practices are followed in accordance with company policy, accounting principles and contractual obligations
- Working within HDR's project accounting system to ensure documentation as well as accurate accounting records are
maintained
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree in a closely related field or combination of education and relevant experience
- 5+ years of experience; an advanced degree may offset years of experience
- Familiar with Earned Value Management
- Excellent verbal and written communication including grammar, punctuation, proofreading, spelling and telephone skills
- Flexibility and ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and collaborate with various managers in a fast-paced
environment
- A/E/C experience also highly desired.
- Document control experience (ProjectWise and Oracle EBS a plus).
- Strong people management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
- A team-first collaborative attitude.
- Self-motivated requiring minimal oversight.

- Ability to manage several project schedules.
