Job Summary

As the Sr. Finance Director you will oversee all financial aspects of the West Division for Chartwells Higher Ed and drive the sector's financial strategy and planning. You will be responsible for internal reporting, budget and forecasting for assigned area in the sector. Additionally, you will be responsible for assessing financial performance, accounting and control functions including all revenue and expense reporting, accounts payable, accounts receivable and monthly financial reporting requirements.


Key Responsibilities:
* Prepares and analyzes monthly Management Reporting, New Rebid and Lost Business Reporting, weekly Business Owners Reports, and AD Hoc requests as assigned
* Provides direction to operating units and to operating management on matters involving client returns and PBO goals
* Assists in compiling and analyzing budgets & forecasts, considering "what if" scenarios and bringing forth suggestions
* Analyzes income statement and balance sheet
* Teaches operators on how to better understand and use financial statements
* Develops and maintains timely and accurate financial statements and reports that are appropriate for the users and in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
* Develops, implements, and ensures compliance with internal financial and accounting policies and procedures
* Reviews monthly results and implements monthly variance reporting
* Reconciles balance sheet accounts monthly
* Implements policies and procedures to ensure that personnel and financial information is secure and stored in compliance with current legislation
* Establishes guidelines for budget and forecast preparation, and prepares the annual budget in consultation with regional Vice President


Preferred Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year College or University in Accounting or Finance; MBA, CPA license preferred
* 7+ years of related experience, including reporting and analysis
* Ability to read, analyze, and interpret financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors
* Independent thinking with ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Detail orientation and ability to analyze data, trends and processes. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables
* Strong experience with SAP, Excel, Power Point and Access
* Strong organization and time management skills are necessary to manage and complete multiple and shifting priorities/projects with accuracy and timeliness
* Strong professional and interpersonal skills (negotiation and influencing others) as well as written communication skills
* Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles
