Job Summary

This position is primarily responsible for coordinating financial aid outreach programs in the community, and high schools and coordinating efforts with the ten Maricopa colleges. This position will assist in increasing awareness of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) financial aid application, deadlines, and its related processes. Additionally, this will work on the development, implementation, assessment, and delivery of district-wide initiatives related to process improvements in financial aid. This position provides customer service and communications for a diverse population of students, campus financial aid representatives, as well as, Financial Aid Answer Center representatives. Candidates should have strong written and verbal communication skills. A successful candidate will have a high level of attention to detail and be a self-motivated team player with the ability to work with minimal supervision.

Essential Functions

25% - Manages the District Wide Scholarship tool including screening new opportunities, granting security, and partnership with the colleges to post and maintain scholarship opportunities.

25% - Participates in and delivers financial aid awareness programming by providing with community based organizations, high school students, parents and high school personnel. Working in partnership with college financial aid, community partners, and district student affairs departments to deliver financial aid outreach initiatives.

25% - Collect, organize and analyze data, related to district wide financial aid initiatives, in order to determine the effectiveness and opportunities with a primary focus on improved student experience and financial aid workflow across the district

15% - perform technically complex financial aid processing, prepare reports and maintain records

10% - Works collaboratively in small groups to develop and enhance various processes related to District Financial Aid Operations.

Minimum Qualifications

Associate's Degree from a regionally accredited institution, and one (1) year full-time of student services or college teaching experience or experience assisting with educational program development and coordination, student advisement, financial aid, or related student development programs. Consideration will also be given to those who have experience in other financial industries or outreach experience.

OR

High School Diploma or GED and three (3) years full-time of student services or college teaching experience or experience assisting with educational program development and coordination, student advisement, financial aid, or related student development programs. Consideration will also be given to those who have experience in other financial industries or outreach experience.

Desired Qualifications



A. Bilingual in English and Spanish

B. Two (2) or more years of recent experience working in a financial aid office within a postsecondary institution with knowledge of Federal and State aid regulations, programs, compliance issues, policies and student financial aid guidelines.

C. Two (2) or more years' experience working with traditional and/or non-traditional college-bound students in a community, high school, and/or college/university setting

D. Experience providing quality customer services.

E. Skilled in facilitating outreach events.

F. Experience establishing relationships and working collaboratively with other departments, as detailed in the application materials

G. Effective written communication skills and interpersonal skills, as showcased in submitted application materials.

Special Working Conditions



Hours of operation 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM, varied schedules within these hours.

May be required to sit for a long period of time; viewing a computer monitor

May be required to lift or carry up to 25 lbs

May be required to work evenings and weekends

Must be in good standing with the Department of Education as it relates to Federal Financial Aid.

May be required to work on site or at home. Technology (computer, monitors, mouse, keyboard, etc.) will be provided for work from home, but the candidate must have reliable internet. Other workspace requirements (desks, chairs, etc.) are not provided by the Maricopa Community Colleges. The candidate must have a private remote workspace.
