We are seeking a summer 2024 Intern to join our team supporting the Pentagon, Fort McNair military base, and the Fort Myer military base, all in Arlington, VA (military friendly, but active military not required). You'll work with the Senior Safety Specialist and Project Managers to assist in day-to-day activities of the department to ensure a safe and incident-free work environment. Interact with departmental supervisors and departmental employees daily to solicit, monitor, & champion identified safety issues.

This internship is targeted for the summer session (June-August) and is roughly 12 weeks in duration. Start and end times are flexible based on class schedule. Hours are day shift/first shift hours, Monday-Friday.


As an Intern, you will:

  • Review, revise, or author job safety analysis
  • Assists with the creation of Site Specific Accident Prevention Plans (APP) & Activity Hazard Analysis (AHA)
  • Review and update machine specific lock-out / tag-out procedures.
  • Assist with accident and injury investigation; determine root cause(s) & corrective/preventative action(s).
  • Participate in daily pre-shift employee meetings.
  • Draft weekly Safety Awareness Messages.
  • Participate in area safety inspections; log findings and coordinate corrective actions.
  • Participate in monthly Safety Committee meetings.
  • Review and update area Safety Data Sheet binders.


What we look for:


  • Must be currently enrolled as a full-time student at an accredited U.S. college or university
  • Pursuing a degree in a Safety related field
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office Tools, with emphasis on Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Overall GPA of 2.75 or above
  • This position services U.S. Government contracts and requires handling of export controlled and other sensitive government data which requires full U.S. citizenship (dual citizenship and green card holders will not meet this requirement
