Description

Responsible for all day-to-day aspects of the tactical procurement team including demand analysis, RFQs/RFPs, PO placement, PO follow-up/status, and individual DFARS compliance. Manage team of Senior Buyers/Buyers to ensure material availability that maintains production schedule and program bid costs. Set up the appropriate metrics to manage the Buyers and what they accomplish based on the business needs.

Assignment of Functions or Duties:

  • Train, mentor, and manage tactical team of commodity buyers
  • Ensure timely PO placement to meet customer delivery dates
  • Drive supplier on time delivery through strong communication with buyers and vendors
  • Reduce scrap and re-work costs through improvement of supplier quality
  • Assist buyers with day-to-day cost/delivery negotiations
  • Lead tactical sourcing efforts focused on price and need dates
  • Create commodity strategies to streamline procurement activities
  • Problem solve issues that arise around material receipt, cost variance, and part demand
  • Assist Business Unit Leaders with pricing information for upcoming bids
  • Maintain a professional, productive and disciplined work environment
  • Other duties may be assigned as necessary

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements of Skills & Experience:

  • MUST BE A US PERSON ELIGIBLE TO WORK FOR ANY EMPLOYER IN THE UNITED STATES WITHOUT SPONSORSHIP
  • B.A. or B.S. degree (Business or Engineering preferred) and a minimum 5 years of management experience
  • 10 + years previous experience in manufacturing/buying (Steel, raw materials, ballistic material experience is a plus)
  • Knowledge and experience on FAR, DFAR, CPSR flow down/requirements
  • Ability to work well with people and possess the skills in problem solving, situation assessment and conflict resolution
  • Ability to oversee several simultaneous projects with the proper delegation skills and the precise amount of involvement without interference, allowing the specifically designated personnel to perform their tasks
  • Extremely detail/results oriented
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft office
  • Experience in MRP/ERP logic/software
  • Experience with Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing
