We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Director, of Corporate Strategy and Business Development (CSBD) to join our team. The position will report directly to the Vice President of Segment Strategy and will serve as the lead strategic advisor to the Senior Vice President of the Commercial Strategy & Innovation. This position will collaborate closely with the Commercial Strategy & Innovation leadership team to develop strategy and align objectives to drive sustainable growth.

CSI, or Commercial Strategy & Innovation, is at the forefront of driving innovation and growth in the core distribution business unit for McKesson's US Pharma organization. Our primary objective is to enhance customer retention and acquisition by delivering a customer experience that is centered around providing differentiated value. Within CSI, we have five teams that play pivotal roles in achieving our goals:

1. Supplylogix: This team empowers customers to take control of their pharmacy supply chain through cutting-edge inventory management and monitoring solutions. By reducing costs and increasing efficiency, Supplylogix has become the leading prescription inventory management system, serving over 12,000 customer sites across 40 chains and 10 health systems.

2. B2B Solutions: Our B2B Solutions team specializes in customer-facing portfolio management for all US Pharma sectors. They offer tailored eCommerce solutions, as well as comprehensive customer and sales reporting and analytics solutions for health systems, retail, and providers.

3. McKesson Pharmacy Systems: As the provider of EnterpriseRx, the leading pharmacy management system for health systems and retail chains, McKesson Pharmacy Systems serves approximately 4,500 customers across various settings. With a strong presence in 3,600 national chain pharmacies and 650 outpatient pharmacies, EnterpriseRx delivers comprehensive solutions.

4. Macro Helix: This team provides market leading 340B optimization software for outpatient pharmacy, retail, specialty contract pharmacy, and patient assistance. With a significant share of the hospital space, Macro Helix has strong retail relationships and processes an impressive volume of 15-30 million 340B records daily.

5. Strategy & Innovation: This team is responsible for maintaining a strong connection with McKesson's Corporate Strategy & Business Development (CSBD) team, providing input to portfolio and product strategy, ad building an innovation funnel to evaluate new ideas.

These five teams within CSI collectively drive innovation, growth, and customer satisfaction within the core distribution segment of US Pharma.

Key Responsibilities

  • Segment Strategy: Responsible for working in partnership with the SVP of CSI to develop the CSI strategy and drive consistent processes related to decision-making, prioritization, sequencing of investments and resource deployment across the business. Develops the narrative on the market and where McKesson is going. Takes ownership of specific strategy projects and helps manage them toward defined deliverables.
  • Strategic Insights & Analytics: Stays updated on industry news, market research reports, and partner / competitor activities. Develops robust, actionable insights to inform strategies, priorities, and key decisions. Areas of focus include but are not limited to implications of market trends, competitive dynamics, and emerging risks and opportunities. Ensures use of consistent frameworks and tools to use in developing strategies across the business unit segments.
  • Planning: Partners closely with key partners to align strategies across business unit segments and support annual business planning activities, including but not limited to annual priority-setting and long-range planning.
  • Business Development: Identifies and evaluates opportunities to advance the strategy through strategic partnerships and M&A. Develops strategic rationale and case for pursuing opportunities. Drives the execution of partnerships, alliances, and acquisitions through relationship development and collaboration with cross-functional teams.
  • Initiative Advancement: Helps translate segment strategy into in actionable execution plan. Guides strategic initiative execution in partnership with operators. Ensures consistency with strategy and resolves emerging questions to improve value capture and speed.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • 7+ years of strategy or consulting experience, or relevant healthcare industry experience (e.g., finance, strategic marketing, clinical operations).

Critical Skills

  • Strategic Thinking: evaluating industry trends, developing long-term implications and recommending pragmatic strategies for new business opportunities.
  • Analytical Rigor: ability to bring structure to ill-defined problems and intellectual leadership to problem solving; synthesize insights from analysis and ensure credible, actionable recommendations.
  • Financial Acumen: understanding of financial modeling and experience with financial planning, budgeting and capital allocation in the context of strategic planning to maximize shareholder value.
  • Communications skills: ability to develop rapport and credibility across the segment, business unit and organization, promote ideas and proposals persuasively.
  • Healthcare Knowledge: knowledge of stakeholders, trends, economic drivers and policy across healthcare

Education

  • 4-year bachelor's degree in business or finance, or related field or equivalent experience
  • MBA preferred.

As part of Total Rewards, we are proud to offer a competitive compensation package at McKesson. This is determined by several factors, including performance, experience and skills, equity, regular job market evaluations, and geographical markets. In addition to base pay, other compensation, such as an annual bonus or long-term incentive opportunities may be offered.

Our Base Pay Range for this position

$152,700 - $254,500
