Overall Purpose

As part of the team that manages fraud risk, this role will provide business intelligence data products and identify and implement fraud mitigation strategies. This position typically will be for a 12-week period and will work under the direct supervision of a department manager or designee.

Essential Functions

  • Apply extensive data analytics and transformation techniques to identify areas of potential risk and find answers to how fraud is committed with Early Warning's flagship payment product, Zelle.
  • Mine large volumes of Zelle Network's data to gather an understanding of the fraud that is being perpetrated and how it could be mitigated.
  • Perform root cause analysis for fraud events that result in long term solutions.
  • Perform extensive data analysis to assess the impact of the fraud event based on observed data volumes and provide recommended solutions and analyze them in terms of financial impact, operational impact, and feasibility of solution implementation.
  • Utilize data cleansing, data transformation, data preparation and statistical analysis techniques on Zelle Network's payment data, customer demographic data and customer behavior data using various components and structures of pySpark, Python, bash, SQL, and Hadoop programming in a time efficient manner.
  • Build test cases and automation to ensure code and data quality for FRM BI products.
  • Expand and develop fraud and Zelle business knowledge.
  • Further develop technical skills and controls knowledge.
  • Participate on work teams, contribute to projects and initiatives, and perform various tasks as needed.
  • Perform research and prepare reports on assigned topics and /or projects when required.
  • Work as a member of the FRM BI team, providing data services to internal and external customers.
  • Support the company's commitment to risk management and protecting the integrity and confidentiality of systems and data.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited college program with course work related to the internship or general knowledge acquired as normally obtained through the completion of a bachelor's degree.
  • Understanding and ideally experience with Spark, Python, Linux, automated testing, and SQL.
  • Understanding of how Hadoop and Spark work for performant big data processing.
  • Understanding of system controls as well as data governance concepts.
  • Familiarity with business intelligence visualization techniques and tools, such as Tableau.
  • Strong communications skills. Must be able to communicate with team members and stakeholders of various levels and technical backgrounds.
  • Proficiency with commonly used office software and personal computers.
  • Background and drug screen.

Works closely across multiple businesses and IT teams to integrate data into critical information that informs planning, measuring, and enhances operational performance.

  • Participates on work teams, contributes to projects and initiatives, and performs various tasks as needed by the assigned unit/department.
  • Performs research and prepares reports on assigned topics and /or projects when required.

  • Support the company's commitment to risk management and protecting the integrity and confidentiality of systems and data.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited college program with course work related to the internship.
  • Must be able to communicate with various levels of employees within the department and proven technical and analytical skills.
  • Knowledge of Business Intelligence analyses and reporting or similar technical expertise.
  • Some experience developing Tableau dashboards with Tableau Server deployments.
  • Ability to work with data, take stakeholder input, and translate into clear descriptive stories.
  • Proficiency with commonly used office software and personal computers may be necessary, depending on assignment.
  • Must be US citizen or US National only.
  • Background and drug screen.

Physical Requirements

Working conditions consist of a normal office environment. Work is primarily sedentary and requires extensive use of a computer and involves sitting for periods of approximately four hours. Work may require occasional standing, walking, kneeling, and reaching. Must be able to lift 10 pounds occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently. Requires visual acuity and dexterity to view, prepare, and manipulate documents and office equipment including personal computers. Requires the ability to communicate with internal and/or external customers.
