Senior BIM Designer

Who We Are Looking For:

We are currently looking for a Senior BIM Designer to be based out of Addison, IL, Phoenix, AZ or Tampa, FL. Reporting to the Director of Design and Engineering, this person will be a subject matter leader in developing and designing BIM content for AutoCAD, Inventor, Revit, etc. Additionally, the Sr. BIM Designer will assist with the development of new features to the Atkore Toolbar and integration of digital design tools to the website.

The ideal candidate will have at least five (5) years of experience using Revit, Inventor and AutoCAD. Experience in lean manufacturing or business system-based company is a plus.

What You'll Do:

  • Develop, lead and manage BIM Modeling, design, and drafting.
  • Manage BIM Content in various programs (i.e. inventor, AutoCAD 3D, Navisworks).
  • Provide critical design support to internal and external customers, as well as work with cross function teams on innovation projects.
  • Manage and maintain Atkore's complete BIM library.
  • Support Atkore's Revit Toolbar modifications.
  • Develops efficiency improvements to current processes.
  • Troubleshoots BIM related project issues including warnings and errors.
  • Leadership and organizational skills to ensure project management is effective and productive on a on a regular and consistent basis.
  • Develop and maintain standard work/check lists to ensure consistency and quality of work on every project.
  • Identify training opportunities and areas for improvement based on day-to-day experiences and exposure to various projects.
  • Drive other projects as needed.

What You Bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, computer sciences), Architecture, or similar building design profession; master's degree preferred.
  • Five (5) years of professional experience using Autodesk programs with at least 5 years' experience using Revit, Inventor and AutoCAD
  • Ability to manipulate and adapt files created by others.
  • Must be able to take direction and perform efficiently.
  • Excellent communication skills including verbal, written and oral.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and comfort with upper management.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment and/or Electrical industry preferred.
  • Experience programming in Python language preferred.
  • Experience using Dynamo preferred.

Within 3 Months, You'll:

  • Complete your new hire "Immersion" so that you are ready to rock in your new role.
  • Have developed relationships with the key stakeholders for this role.
  • Have become familiar with current offering of Atkore digital tools and Revit Library

Within 6 Months, You'll:

  • Create families, assemblies and templates for use in Revit.
  • Coordinate and manage BIM requests in various programs from internal and external customers (inventor, AutoCAD 3D, Revit, etc.)
  • Working on project teams to assist in completion of digital tools on current roadmap.
  • Create project plans and provide status reports.

Within 12 Months, You'll:

  • Support creation of new design tools for use in Revit toolbar and possible other systems (Wed Tools, AutoCAD, Inventor)
  • Support modifying Revit toolbar.
  • Support automating Processes for Revit families and Revit process using Dynamo.
