What to Expect?

The Project Sales Lead is the in-market "Business to Business (B2B)" support position who ensures our customers experience a smooth sales process from start to finish. This position manages accounts and orchestrates large-scale landscape work, from commercial construction jobs to municipal maintenance bids. The successful candidate is customer and solutions focused, demonstrates exceptional service and teamwork, and always radiates a positive attitude.

On a daily basis our Project Sales Lead:

  • Drives the entire project sale from preparing quotes, to converting quotes to jobs, gathering paperwork for liens, packaging product submittal sheets for contractors, taking orders, sourcing product from vendors and orchestrating phased deliveries.

  • Establishes relationships and communicates with multiple contacts within each assigned account, including large landscape construction companies, specifiers and municipalities, and makes periodic on-site sales calls with Business Development Representatives (BDRs) who also service the accounts.

  • Treats customers as business partners, by recommending product solutions, upsell options, and complimentary items designed to make their jobs easier and more profitable.

  • Collaborates with team members and utilizes all company resources to sell Horizon's value and give customers the best service and experience possible.

  • Communicates daily with Project Sales Team, Business Development Representatives and Sales Center Managers regarding status of customer projects for which responsibility is shared.

  • Maintains all project documentation, including quotes, liens, plans, bids, takeoffs, submittal sheets and schedules.

  • Educates customers on our entire product line, as well as all available promotions, marketing opportunities, services and resources that bring value and can help support sales.

  • Achieves assigned sales, gross margin and customer goals.

  • Expediently creates and delivers complete and accurate quotes to customers.

  • Effectively closes sales and ensures deliveries take place as promised.

  • Resolves customer complaints professionally and in a timely manner.

  • Has a regular follow-up game plan that results in the ongoing development of qualified new business leads and the preservation of his/her book of business.

  • Completes data input, paperwork and internal reports in a timely fashion.

  • Other duties as assigned.

What You Will Need:

  • Strong customer-service attitude.

  • Self-motivated and detail-oriented personality.

  • Thrives in a fast-paced environment focused on serving business owners with urgent needs.

  • Previous customer service or project sales experience.

  • Experience in either the irrigation, landscape or outdoor living industries.

  • Understands information and communicates clearly through spoken and written words, asks questions as appropriate, and thinks critically to identify solutions to problems.

  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence, and to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees on occasion.

  • Ability to perform business math (percentages, ratios, discounts, interest, etc.); define problems; collect data; establish facts; and draw valid conclusions.

  • Strong computer and record-keeping skills, proficient in Microsoft Office suite, and has the aptitude to learn ever-evolving systems, programs, handheld technology and processes.

  • A cooperative, dependable team player.

  • Occasionally lifts / moves items up to 20 pounds and sometimes up to 75 pounds.

  • High school diploma or GED.

  • Must be 18 years of age or older to apply.

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.
