The BIO5 Institute at the University of Arizona is seeking highly motivated candidates for the full-time position of Postdoctoral Research Associate I in the Laboratory of Dr. Felicia Goodrum, studying complex virus-host interactions important to human cytomegalovirus persistence. Projects in the Goodrum Laboratory are currently focused on protein-protein interactions during infection and the regulation of membrane trafficking and signaling and how this impacts cytomegalovirus replication and latency. The ideal candidate for this position will thrive in a rapidly growing research laboratory. They will be a self-starter who takes initiative to hone cellular biology skills while continually improving other interdisciplinary aspects of research. We are looking for someone who will work independently within a highly collaborative environment, helping advance the understanding of the human cytomegalovirus while expanding the larger research mission of the University. The BIO5 Institute connects and mobilizes hundreds of world-class plant, animal, and human bioscientists, engineers, physicians, and computational researchers to develop creative solutions for complex challenges such as disease, hunger, water and food safety, and other health issues facing Arizona. This interdisciplinary approach has resulted in improved food crops, innovative diagnostics and devices, disease prevention strategies, and promising new therapies.
