As the Disability and Time Off Program Manager, you will be responsible for leading the disability, absence management and time off policies and programs within our organization. Your role is critical in ensuring that employees who require time off due to disabilities or other personal reasons are supported effectively while ensuring the organization programs are up to date and remain in compliance with local, state and federal laws and regulations.

Policy Development and Compliance:

  • Create and revise company policies and procedures to align with organization goals and to ensure compliance with legal requirements and industry standards.

  • Spearhead process and policy innovation that drives engagement and value for the participant and organization identifying opportunities through benchmarking, industry resources and consultation with various internal business leaders.

  • Serve as the subject matter expert for the leave and time off programs staying up to date on all relevant laws, regulations and best practices related to disability and time off programs.

  • Conduct periodic audits to assess compliance with policies and identify areas for improvement.

  • Identify requirements or concerns related to the disability policy and time off programs related to state and federal contracts and union agreements.

Vendor and Disability Program Management:

  • Cultivate strong vendor relationships for Leave of Absence Administrator and Disability Insurance carriers to ensure effective service delivery and attainment of performance metrics.

  • Identify opportunities to lead ongoing improvements to disability and leave programs and processes through the use of key metrics, trends and participant feedback.

  • Utilize information derived from issue escalations to identify root cause and implement process improvements either internally or by our vendor partners.

  • Collaborate with vendors, HR, legal, and other relevant departments to ensure compliance with disability laws and regulations in the management of our disability programs.

  • Interpret and administer leave policies within the framework of applicable federal and state regulations.

  • Coordinate with workers' compensation team to monitor claims coordination with leave of absence programs.

Time Off Program Consultation and Management:

  • Provide consultation and analysis related to time off program options during union negotiations.

  • Manage and ensure compliance with all federal, state, local leave regulations including but not limited to paid time off (PTO), holiday, floating holiday, sick leave, bereavement leave, disability leave, and family and medical leave.

  • Develop and maintain leave resources, trainings, educational material, and communications for employees, managers and human resources partners.

  • Partner with the delivery team, communications, employee care, and other relevant departments to create educational materials for employees and managers on time off policies and procedures, including eligibility criteria and documentation requirements.

  • Monitor time off trends and provide insights to leadership for continuous improvement of time off programs.

Program and policy implementation

  • Manage and maintain ownership of the implementation process for any new vendors, policies, or processes for disability, absence management or time off programs.

  • Lead the collaboration between internal and external resources in the development, testing, and implementation of new programs and processes ensuring proper setup and coding for all new programs, policies and file feeds.

  • Create required process and educational materials in partnership with employee care, communications, and other relevant partners.

Minimum Job Qualifications:

Critical Skills/Business Experience

  • 7+ years of experience in HR, disability management, or related field, with a focus on leave of absence vendor management preferred.

  • Expert knowledge of relevant federal, state and local laws and regulations related to disability, leave of absence and employer time off policies.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, organizational skills and problem-solving abilities.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage sensitive and confidential information with integrity and discretion.

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred, Nice to Have, Specialized Knowledge/Skills -

  • PMP certification or demonstrated project management skills are a plus.

  • Experience with Workday and Workday leave configuration preferred.

  • Certification in disability management or HR (e.g., CDMS, CPDM, PHR, or SHRM-CP) is a plus.

Education:.

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.

As part of Total Rewards, we are proud to offer a competitive compensation package at McKesson. This is determined by several factors, including performance, experience and skills, equity, regular job market evaluations, and geographical markets. In addition to base pay, other compensation, such as an annual bonus or long-term incentive opportunities may be offered.

Our Base Pay Range for this position

$96,100 - $160,100
