Bus Driver - Summer Program

The City of Peoria seeks to hire a Bus Driver in the Neighborhood and Human Services department to provide excellent customer service to all program patrons by exemplifying a positive attitude and exceeding the needs of patrons. This is accomplished by assisting with the organization, planning and implementation of a variety of recreational activities for youth ages 4 to 14 and by providing transportation for programs, as needed.

The hiring rate for this position is $19.00/hour.

The ideal candidate for this position will:

  • Insure there is water on board at all times. Supervise participants on the bus. Account for all participants with crosscheck procedure. Exercise the necessary supervision of personnel to meet the needs of the activity, event or program.
  • Communicate to direct supervisor regarding incidents, decisions and issues pertaining to activities, events and/or programs.
  • Supervise and implement the distribution, care and use of supplies and/or equipment for assigned programs.
  • Be responsible for the completion and filing of accident and statistical reports, regarding incidents and issues pertaining to program proceedings.
  • Perform bus inspections and evaluations to ensure compliance with program, city and school district safety policies and procedures.
  • Attend meetings as assigned. Assist with other recreation programs, as requested.

  • A safety conscious, punctual team player with a high work ethic.
  • Knowledgeable of basic needs and safety concerns associated with the care of assigned populations.
  • Able to maintain a safe work environment in accordance with program and city or school district policies and procedures for participants, patrons, co-workers and self.
  • Able to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing, regarding incidents, decisions and issues pertaining to activities, events, etc. to assigned supervisor.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Able to obtain a Fingerprint Clearance card.
  • Employed by the Peoria Unified School District as a Bus Driver.
  • Be a minimum of 21 years of age.
  • Have State Certified, AZ School Bus Driver Certificate
  • Have a valid AZ Commercial Driver's License
  • CCC/AED certification is required within one month of hire.
