Position Description:

Supports the Senior Director of Strategic Communications in developing overarching internal and external (PR) communications strategies for Goodwill of Central and Northern Arizona (GCNA) and its affiliated entities and Thrive Services Group (TSG), bringing them to life through tactical execution. On the external side, manages the PR consultant to drive positive media coverage and through leadership strategies (speaking engagements, awards, targeted media pitching, etc.). Internally, works closely with cross-functional partners to create communications that drives engagement, builds our culture, and increases awareness and understanding of business priorities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • In partnership with the Senior Director of Strategic Communications, builds and oversees GCNA and TSG's PR and Corporate Reputation strategy and channels.
  • Creates and manages editorial and content calendar to guide communications and ensure alignment with all other areas of Marketing and Communications.
  • Coordinates all aspects of media interviews and opportunities, including PR Consultant role, press releases, messaging, and spokespeople.
  • Builds relationships as well as systems to surface and develop stories and pitches from business partners.
  • Assists with crisis communications and serves as a key member of the Incident Response Team.
  • Serves as one of the on-camera media spokespeople for media opportunities as appropriate.
  • Supports the Senior Leadership Team with communications and content for media interviews, external speaking engagements, presentations, and scripts.
  • Builds and manages internal communications strategy and channels for GCNA and TSG.
  • Supports cross-functional teams with internal initiatives, programs, and activations by providing counsel and developing communication strategies.
  • Develops communications and content for current internal communications channels including quarterly Cookie Visits meetings, weekly all-Team Member email, the intranet, and digital media slides in Goodwill stores.
  • Develops processes around organizational communication needs to allow for seamless announcements of Team Member programs, benefits, events, etc.
  • Models Goodwill Core Values - Trust, Collaboration, Engagement, Ownership, and Innovation.
  • Performs other related duties, as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications (Education, Experience, Skills):

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience in Marketing, Communications, Business or another related field preferred.
  • Must have 4-7 years of experience in PR or communications with high volume employer (1,500+ employees).
  • Demonstrated excellence in written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong history of quickly building relationships, gaining credibility, and partnering with department leaders and peers.
  • Strong organizational and detail orientation skills.
  • Proficient with MS Office skills, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Demonstrated ability to simultaneously manage multiple, complex projects in varying stages of development under time pressure and deadlines.
  • Possess the maturity to handle sensitive information.
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screen, where applicable for position.
  • Ability to speak and read English proficiently.
