We Require

  • Two years of work experience as a Paralegal, Legal Assistant, or work involving legal procedures, terminology, or administration and an Associate's degree in Paralegal Studies, Legal Assistance, or Legal Studies, OR
  • Bachelor's or higher in Paralegal Studies,Legal Assistance, or Legal Studies - no experience needed, OR
  • Bachelor's or higher in an unrelated field + an Associates or Certification in Paralegal Studies - no experience needed
  • NOTE: The Maricopa County Attorney's Office requires a thorough background check of all successful candidates and is authorized to test prospective employees for the presence of illegally accessed drugs. Drug testing is conducted once an offer has been extended and prior toplacement.

Job Contributions

  • Assist attorneys with preparation for various types of legal proceedings including but not limited to creating trial notebooks, witness files, trial exhibits, charts, and indexes
  • Produce initial drafts of pleadings, motions, briefs, memos, discovery requests and responses, reports and correspondences as assigned and in accordance with court rules to ensure deadlines are met
  • Assist attorneys in researching statutes, legal cases, and other sources for legal precedents, and case applicability
  • Review, organize, index, redact, and date stamps pertinent documents for disclosure/discovery and use in court
  • Analyze, organize, review, and verify records and other documents obtained through the process
  • Utilize software and case management systems for trial use
  • Compile annotations, indexes, provisions of statutes, cases, or administrative decisions
  • Attend legal seminars, training classes, and position-oriented meetings on- and off-site

Working Conditions

  • Work occurs primarily in an office setting characterized by a high volume, fast-paced environment with frequent stressful situations. This position requires the ability to move up to 20 pounds floor to waist and push/pull a distance of up to 100 feet
