POSITION SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Facilities Director, the Landscape & Facilities Tech will execute scheduled operations of the physical facilities of the RJKCCC during set shifts. This includes all landscape maintenance (primary responsibility) as well as building custodial tasks, repairs, basic maintenance, and assisting in event setups.

HOURLY RATE OF PAY: $14.62

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of (1) year basic experience in landscaping including turf and sprinkler control systems.
  • Minimum of (1) year building cleaning and basic maintenance and repair experience.
  • Have basic knowledge of turf management, replacement, watering levels, sprinkler, and vale replacement, seeding, scalping, over seeding, and field painting.
  • Have knowledge of window cleaning, mopping, chemicals, dusting, and vacuuming.
  • Service-oriented team player with the ability to maintain a positive attitude while interacting with Kroc employees, guests, and the public.
  • Possess working knowledge of Gas Trimmers, Mowers, Chainsaws, and Hand Tools.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to carry out multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Possess strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to lift and carry 75 pounds.
  • Must be able to speak, read, and write in English (Bi-lingual is a plus).
  • Must be in good physical and mental health, capable of meeting the demand of the RJKCCC job site.
  • Maintain a non-judgmental attitude while working with customers, clients, and/or members of staff.
  • Must be at least 16 years old.
  • Must be a person of high integrity and willing to support and promote the mission of The Salvation Army.
  • Successful background check is required.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintains Sports Fields areas.
  • Performs landscape maintenance including trimming, drip system replacement, water schedules, and plant replacement.
  • Performing seasonal seeding on turf.
  • Paint fields for sports activities as directed by Facilities Management.
  • Cut grass on all fields to maintain organizational standards.
  • Work with Rental and Events team as directed by Facilities Director to ensure weekend maintenance requirements are prepped and maintained.
  • Ensure proper removal of all waste from trimming and mowing.
  • Inventory supplies of tools, equipment, or materials to ensure that sufficient supplies are available, and items are in usable condition.
  • Complete tasks such as transplanting or pruning trees or shrubs, finishing cement, using equipment, or caring for turf.
  • Perform duties such as landscaping, cultivating lawns, or pruning trees, and shrubs.
  • Perform project activities to ensure that instructions are followed, deadlines are met, and schedules are maintained.
  • Assist lead tech in planting or maintaining vegetation through activities such as mulching, fertilizing, watering, mowing, or pruning.
  • Perform mixing or application of fertilizers, insecticides, herbicides, or fungicides.
  • Identify diseases or pests affecting landscaping and order appropriate treatments.
  • Installation of sprinkler systems, calculating water pressure, or valve and pipe coverage needs.
  • Maintain a safe working environment for all employees, guests, and members of the RJKCCC.
  • Maintain staff relationships and work cooperatively with the RJKCCC Management Team, and all Divisional staff.
  • Assist in custodial services throughout the RJKCCC as needed and directed.
  • Assist in repairs and general maintenance of the RJKCCC.
  • Interact professionally with individuals and groups having diverse backgrounds.
  • Perform other assignments/duties as assigned within the position.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, stand, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and reach with hands and arms on a continuous basis. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 20 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Must have the ability to operate a telephone, a desktop or laptop computer, as well as the ability to access and produce information from a computer, and to understand written information.

Before hiring, the candidate must submit a copy of a DMV Driving Record with less than two (2) violations (moving or accident) in the last twelve (12) months to be eligible for this position. Salvation Army Fleet Safety Policy dictates that persons no longer meet the qualifications of this position if more than two (2) violations in a 12-month period accrue to their DMV Driving Record, the employee will be required to attend traffic school at their expense or termination will be required.
