Job Summary

This position is responsible for the acquisition, design, implementation, testing and ongoing support for services such as operating systems, applications, application hosting, software, computing and storage. Provides support for both internal IT and external college customers for servers and systems across the college. Administers Windows and Unix based servers by providing maintenance, security, testing, upgrades and monitoring to ensure reliability and improved system performance. Supports servers, systems and applications; installs, configures, analyzes, debugs, maintains and troubleshoots software and/or hardware. Continuously improve systems using the latest technologies and technology standards; makes recommendations regarding operating software and system selections. Manages projects and supervises staff; develops solutions and procedures, processes, best practices and solutions to college support and instructional areas.

Essential Functions

45% Installs, supports, secures, and maintains Windows and Unix based servers (physical and virtual) or other computer systems. Plans for, responds to and documents service outages and other problems in an Active Directory environment.

20% Provides leadership and direction for staff as well as projects and their resources.

15% Provides recommendations for decisions of future enhancements of hardware and software systems.

10% Develops high quality technical documents for knowledgebase and training tools.

10% Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree from a regionally accredited institution in information technology or related field with four (4) years of system and application administration experience in an area related to assignment.

OR

Associate's Degree from a regionally accredited institution in information technology or related field with six (6) years of system and application administration experience in an area related to assignment.

OR

An equivalent combination of the conferred degree, education, certification and directly related full-time work experience as described above sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.

Desired Qualifications
  1. Four (4 or more years administering Windows Active Directory
  2. Two (2) or more years project management / implementation
  3. Two (2) or more years supervising and evaluating staff
  4. Two (2) or more years securing enterprise level servers
  5. Industry certifications such as A+, PMP, MSCE, MSCA
  6. Previous experience in Higher Education environment
  7. Effective written communication skills as demonstrated in cover letter


Special Working Conditions
  • Possession of a valid State of Arizona Class D driver's license is required; must meet minimum standards regarding driving: http://www.maricopa.edu/legal/rmi/vehicle.htm#requirements
  • Travel to campus during interview/selection process will be at candidate's own expense
  • Will be required to travel or be assigned to all MCCCD locations
  • May require numerous evenings or weekends
  • May require prolonged periods of viewing a computer screen
  • May be required to lift or carry up to #25 lbs
