Position Highlights Are you a Undergraduate student who is proficient with immunology and animal research? If you are, The College of Medicine-Phoenix is searching for a Research Technician to help us achieve our mission to optimize health and health care in Arizona and beyond.

A Research Technician III position is available with the Department of Child Health at the University of Arizona College of Medicine-Phoenix in the laboratory of Dr. Mario Otto. We are looking for a highly motivated, team-orientated candidate with excellent communication skills and a willingness to excel in a fast-paced research environment. As a Research Technician III, you will assist in an ongoing research program that focuses on the development of organoid, cell, and targeted therapies for pediatric cancer. The laboratory uses conventional and novel tumor-targeted approaches for research that includes cellular therapies, nanotechnology, and small molecule drug development.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Perform cell isolation and culture, preparation of media and tissue culture reagents, and maintenance and special manipulations of cell lines (e.g. transfection).
  • Prepare and run biological and biochemical assays such as cytotoxicity assays, ELISA, PCR, and flow cytometry.
  • Work with chemical analysis of novel small molecules and inorganic nanoparticles.
  • Maintain the mouse colony, which includes rodent work, and related experimentation (dissections, injections of biological compounds, minor and major surgeries).
  • Contribute to data analysis and manuscript preparation.
  • Train students and new staff in lab techniques and procedures.
  • Perform general lab maintenance, record-keeping, ordering, and inventory of laboratory supplies.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Knowledge of the principles and techniques of the subject discipline; including, mouse and animal care, cancer cell biology and basic Research Laboratory skills.
  • Knowledge of modern research methods, data collection and analyses.
  • Ability to effectively communicate.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent, or equivalent learning attained through experience required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience required.
Preferred Qualifications

* Bachelor's degree in Cell and Molecular biology, biochemistry, or related Life Sciences field of study.

* Previous experience working with rodents and other experimental animals.

* Experience maintaining and servicing laboratory equipment.

* Demonstrated ability with laboratory organization, procedures and record keeping.
