Description of Work

This is a rotation internship program that will allow for a well-round experience within the Shared Services environment of the College of Arts & Sciences Business Operations office.

Accounting Intern/Contracts & Grants Intern:
Perform tasks related to budgeting, proposal preparation, reporting, and overall grants management on a broad scale for many funding agencies - ranging from large, complex proposals and projects involving multiple faculty and departments at UNC and/or multiple collaborative universities (including subcontractors and/or consultants) to smaller, single-investigator awards or application submissions for student fellowships. Accounting duties performed include but are not limited to budget transfers, budget journals, fund swaps, PAAT's, lump sum payments, complex journal entries, and source creates

Budget Analyst Intern:
The intern assists the Senior Budget Analyst, Budget Analysts, and Associate Dean with special projects related to financial analysis and planning. Duties include building reports for school and departmental leadership, shadowing the Budget Analysts as they complete their work, conducting reviews of financial information from the University's various systems, and other duties as needed. The intern will learn about and work with all types of funds (State, F&A, trust, and sponsored research).

Education and Experience

Graduation from high school and one year of related office experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

An applicant must be attending North Carolina Central University, and continuing their education in the Fall following their participation in the program.
